Bright yellow strained mango syrup in a large glass measuring cup.

This Mango Simple Syrup is just as delicious as it is beautiful! It's made with 3 simple ingredients and it comes together in less than 30 minutes. It's bright, sweet, and its tropical flavor is perfect for summer cocktails, mocktails, lemonades, iced tea, and more. You can even drizzle it over ice cream or pancakes instead of maple syrup! And it's freezer-friendly!

    Why This Recipe Works

Simple and easy to make - Making your own syrup at home is so much easier than you may think! All you need are 3 ingredients! Fresh ripe mango is simmered with sugar and water for 15 minutes and turns it into amazing syrup, perfect for the summer! You can save the mango and spread it on toasted bread as jam!

The best mango drinks - You can add this syrup to cocktails, mocktails, lemonade, iced tea, and more! You can even drizzle it on ice cream or pancakes! The syrup is packed with mango flavor and always a hit at any party.

Better than store-bought - Homemade syrups always yield the best flavor and once you learn how easy they are to make, you’ll never want to use store-bought ones again! This is especially true with this mango syrup! Some flavors are harder to make at home but this syrup has a true mango flavor that will be delicious in any drink you make!

    Ingredients

    • Mango - Finely diced fresh mango is best here but you can use frozen mango as well if you don't have fresh. The better and sweeter the mango, the better the syrup!
    • Cane sugar - I like using cane sugar in my simple syrups because it has a neutral flavor but it's less processed than white sugar. You can use the two interchangeably.
    • Water - Use filtered water whenever possible. You'll need water and sugar in a 1:1 ratio.
Cane sugar in a cup, water in a glass, and two fresh mangoes on a grey stone background.

    Variations and Substitutions

    • More fruits - You can mix mango, pineapple, and passion fruit for a fun tropical syrup perfect for mojitos, margaritas, or daiquiris! Alternatively, you can just make a separate pineapple syrup.
    • Frozen mango - You can use frozen mango instead of fresh in a pinch. They usually have less flavor and are less sweet so I recommend fresh whenever possible. Defrost it in the fridge first and discard any excess water.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Add cane sugar, water, and diced mango into a small saucepan.
    2. Bring the mixture to a boil stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
    3. Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

    1. Take the syrup off the heat and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
    2. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer and squeeze out as much juice out of the mango as possible.
    3. Transfer to an airtight jar and wait for the syrup to cool down before closing with a lid and storing in the fridge.

    Recommended Uses

    • Cocktails - You can add it to margaritas, mojitos, daiquiris, or any frozen cocktails. Try it in a frozen margarita with frozen mango, just like this Frozen Pineapple Margarita! It's a great syrup for any vodka, white rum, or blanco tequila cocktail. I absolutely love it in this Mango Mai Tai!
    • Mocktails - Mango syrup is delicious in mocktails of any kind! If you've tried my Blackberry Mocktail, you can make one with mango by swapping the blackberry syrup for mango and skipping the thyme. Top it with sparkling passion fruit or mango water, it's so good!
    • Lemonades - You can use it as a sweetener instead of sugar when making lemonade. Try it in this Pineapple Passion Fruit Lemonade!
    • Iced tea - You can use it to sweeten both hot and iced tea. It's especially delicious with berry iced teas, like this Iced Raspberry Passion Tea Lemonade.
    • Drizzled over food - You can drizzle this syrup over ice cream or even over any sweet breakfast instead of maple syrup! Think pancakes, waffles, French toast, and more!

    Storing

Fridge: Store the syrup in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Make sure to always use a clean spoon to prevent it from going bad too soon. If it develops a weird smell or mold it needs to be tossed.

Freezing: If you don't think you'll use up all of it, you can freeze leftovers either in an ice cube tray or in small freezer-safe containers. I like using 2-4 serving containers and label them so that I know how much I need to defrost each time. Store in the freezer for 2-4 months. Defrost the syrup in the fridge in 30-60 minutes depending on the size of your container. Due to its high sugar content, the syrup barely freezes and defrosts quickly.

    FAQs

My syrup is muddy, is it still safe to eat?

It will naturally be thicker and it may separate slightly because some of the mango gets pressed through the fine mesh strainer into the syrup. This is fine. If it smells off, has a weird color, or develops any kind of mold, definitely toss it.

Can I make the syrup with a sugar-free sweetener?

I haven't tried it so I can't guarantee results but it should work with any sugar free sweetener that can be used in a 1:1 ratio with regular cane sugar or white sugar. Keep in mind the flavor will change based on the sweetener you use.

This Mango Simple Syrup is just as delicious as it is beautiful! It's bright, sweet, and its tropical flavor is perfect for summer cocktails, mocktails, lemonades, iced tea, and more.

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 1 cup cane sugar
    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup diced mango (fresh or frozen)

    Instructions

    1. Add cane sugar, water, and diced mango into a small saucepan.
    2. Bring the mixture to a boil stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.
    3. Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
    4. Take the syrup off the heat and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

    7. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

    Notes

The sweeter and more ripe your mango is, the better the syrup will be. You can let it rest for longer after you take it off the heat to make sure it has more flavor.

Was simple and easy to make !!
And cheaper than buying in the store for a small container!! I like it over cottage cheese with the diced mangoes. Also mixed with pineapple is good. But for tropical drinks they have Mango Rum and use it all togeather blended with the frozen syrup for a frozen mango daiquiri .For really over the top add a scoop of French Vanilla Ice Cream !! And your in Heaven ❣️❣️❣️
