Why You'll Love This Sugar Cookie Martini
A beautiful festive creamy cocktail - If classic sugar cookies are you favorite cookies to bake during Christmas, this is the perfect cocktail for you! It's extra creamy, flavorful, and it's made with homemade Sugar Cookie Syrup! It tastes like vanilla, sugar, and almonds with a hint of butter flavor. It's super delicious and you can use leftover syrup for lattes!
Beautiful but simple presentation - I recommend serving the cocktail in a coupe glass with colorful sprinkles on the rim. It makes it look super cute and fancy but in reality, it's incredibly easy to do! Making your own syrup may sound daunting but I promise you, it only takes 10 minutes and just a couple of ingredients!
Great for a group - You can easily multiply the ingredients by however many servings you need and you can mix everything in a pitcher ahead of time and serve it that way instead of shaking individual cocktails!
Ingredients
- Vodka - Use your favorite vodka. Anything mid-price is perfect, no need to use top-shelf stuff for cocktails!
- Baileys - Baileys adds creaminess and flavor to the cocktail. Use their almond milk version for a vegan-friendly martini.
- Amaretto - I like Disaronno but any Amaretto works.
- Sugar cookie syrup - You can use store-bought syrup like Monin but I highly recommend using homemade Sugar Cookie Simple Syrup! It's so good and you can use the rest in lattes or other cocktails!
- Cream - You can use heavy whipping cream for an extra creamy cocktail or creamer. I used unsweetened oat milk creamer. If you use heavy whipping cream, you can whisk some into whipped cream and use it to garnish the cocktail.
- Sprinkles - This is optional but you can garnish the cocktail with some sprinkles to make it extra fancy. I like to do a sprinkle rim and sprinkle more on top. My favorite sprinkles to use are either these Rainbow Sprinkles or these Rainbow Nonpareils. Both are by Watkins and have no artificial dyes.
- Agave syrup or vanilla frosting - To make the sprinkles stick, you'll need to dip the rim of your glass into agave or brush it with frosting. Frosting is easier here as too much agave could make the sprinkles drip down. I usually use agave syrup mainly because frosting is not something I have on hand.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Dip the rim of your martini or coupe glass in agave and dip in sprinkles. Set aside.
- Add vodka, amaretto, Baileys, sugar cookie syrup, and cream to a cocktail shaker.
- Add a handful of ice and shake the cocktail vigorously for 10 seconds until very cool and frothy.
- Strain the drink into your prepared glass. Optionally, you can double-strain it to avoid any small pieces of ice falling through.
- Garnish the drink with a small dollop of whipped cream, more sprinkles, and a small sugar cookie.
Expert Tips
- Sprinkles rim: The best way to make the sprinkles stick to your glass is frosting. I didn't have any so I used agave syrup instead. Be careful not to add too much syrup because it might drip down and so will the sprinkles.
Non-Alcoholic Version
- Use milk or cream instead of vodka - You can either add more cream or creamer (regular or dairy-free) or just use plain milk. Almond milk is my go-to.
- Amaretto syrup - Use this Monin Amaretto Syrup instead of Amaretto liqueur to give the drink that classic almond marzipan flavor. Orgeat syrup will also work. Do not add too much if you still also want to add sugar cookie syrup.
- Baileys - I have yet to find a good non-alcoholic alternative for Baileys. If you know one, please let me know in the comments! I would just skip it in the mocktail.
Storing and Make Ahead Options
Ingredient prep: While you shouldn't let the finished cocktail sit with the ice for a long time, you can pre-measure all of the ingredients and keep them in the fridge until you're ready to make the cocktail.
Pitcher: If you're making the martini in a pitcher, you can also mix everything together ahead of time and keep it in the fridge until ready to serve. The drink will need to be stirred well before serving.
Sugar cookie syrup: If you're making your own syrup, it can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. You can use the rest of it for lattes!
FAQs
I recommend using Monin sugar cookie syrup if you don't want to make your own. You could also use a mix of their amaretto syrup and vanilla syrup which will give you a similar flavor

Ingredients
- 1 tsp agave syrup
- 1 tbsp sprinkles
- 1 oz vodka
- ½ oz amaretto
- 1 oz Baileys
- ½-1 oz Sugar Cookie Syrup
- 1 ½ oz cream or creamer (I used unsweetened dairy-free creamer)
- Handful of ice
- Garnish: whipped cream, sprinkles, a small sugar cookie, or a ¼ of a large cookie (optional)
Instructions
- Dip the rim of your martini or coupe glass in agave and dip in sprinkles. Set aside.
- Add vodka, amaretto, Baileys, sugar cookie syrup, and cream to a cocktail shaker.
- Add a handful of ice and shake the cocktail vigorously for 10 seconds until very cool and frothy.
- Strain the drink into your prepared glass and garnish with a small dollop of whipped cream, more sprinkles, and a small sugar cookie.
Notes
Sprinkles rim: If you don’t have agave, you can also use frosting instead. It helps the sprinkles to stick better and stay in place but I used agave syrup because I never have frosting on hand.
Pitcher measurements for 8 servings: 8 oz vodka, 4 oz amaretto, 8 oz Baileys, 4 oz sugar cookie syrup, 12 oz cream or creamer. Mix with ice right before serving or serve over ice.
