This Copycat Starbucks Iced Guava Black Tea is the most refreshing drink for a hot day! Only 4 ingredients, really easy to make, and always a hit!

    Why You'll Love This Drink

    • It's really refreshing and perfect for hot summer days.
    • You only sweeten the tea with a little bit of maple syrup which makes this iced tea healthier than the Starbucks version.
    • So easy to make! You only need four simple ingredients and to follow a few easy steps.
    • Making it at home means you can make way more than you'd buy AND it's cheaper.

A while ago I share my other favorite Starbucks drink for cold days, the Blossoming Rose Tea Latte. This Iced Guava Black Tea from Starbucks is my favorite for hot days!

Why It's Better Than the Starbucks Version

A while ago I share my other favorite Starbucks drink for cold days, the Blossoming Rose Tea Latte. This Iced Guava Black Tea from Starbucks is my favorite for hot days!

    • It has way less sugar and calories! Their Shaken Iced Guava Black Tea Lemonade packs a lot of liquid cane sugar. The black tea is sweetened with cane sugar, the lemonade is sweet, and I'm sure their guava juice blend also has some sugar in it.
    • You choose how much sugar, lemon, and guava juice goes into your drink.
    • It costs you way less to make it at home! You can make lots of tea for much less than what you'd pay for one drink at Starbucks.

    Iced Tea Tips

    • Make your tea stronger than you would if you were drinking it hot. When you pour it into a glass with ice, some of the ice will melt and this prevents it from watering down your drink too much.
    • Add your sweetener while the tea is still hot. If you need to add more after it cools down, use a liquid sweetener, any type of dry sugar will have a harder time dissolving.
    • The tea will always taste less sweet iced than it does when it's hot. I kept the amount of maple syrup to minimum so you can add more to taste!
    • If you need the tea to cool down quickly, steep it with two extra teabags and then add a bunch of ice. Adding more teabags prevents the tea from being watered down by the ice.

    Variations and Substitutions

    • Caffeine - Black tea contains caffeine. If you need to avoid caffeine, use decaffeinated black tea.
    • Guava Juice - If you're not able to get any guava juice, I recommend either leaving it out and making this into a black tea lemonade, or skipping the maple syrup and instead using the raspberry syrup from this Hibiscus Margarita recipe! I recommend using ¼ cup of the syrup.

    Description

This copycat Starbucks iced guava black tea is a great refreshing drink made with just four ingredients. Always a hit in the summer!

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 1.7L boiling water
    • 4 black tea teabags
    • 2 tbsp maple syrup (or to taste, sub honey or agave syrup)
    • 1 lemon, juiced (2 tbsp)
    • 1 ½ cup (350ml) guava juice

    Instructions

    1. Pour the boiling water into a large pot, add the teabags, and steep the tea for 5 minutes.
    2. Take the teabags out, add the maple syrup, the juice of one lemon, and stir.
    3. Let the tea cool for 20 minutes. When cooled down, pour in the guava juice and stir.
    4. Let cool completely before storing. Store in glass jars in the fridge for 2-3 days.
    5. Serve poured over ice.

    Notes

I like to let the tea cool down before adding the guava juice to not heat up the juice.

If you need the tea to cool down quickly, steep it with two extra teabags and then add a bunch of ice. Adding more teabags prevents the tea from being watered down by the ice.

Any guava juice works. I used one that's made with guava and grape juice. Try to avoid any other juice blends like guava and pear, it will taste different.

The brand is called Polar Tropical Fruit. It's a local Toronto brand.

I wish I had had this recipe many years ago when I was racking my brain for recipes for the guava tree in our Hawaii back yard. Next time I am there and the guavas are in season I plan to make lots of this tea
