    Why This Recipe Works

This drink is perfect for mornings when you want to skip coffee but still want a little bit of caffeine to give you energy. There are so many great things about this drink but here are a few:

    • The latte is made with earl grey which is a black tea infused with bergamot oil. It's so delicious.
    • It's cheaper - It's inspired by the Starbucks version but it will cost you much less!
    • You control how sweet it is. Add more or less sweetener, lavender, or vanilla. That's the best part about homemade drinks!
    • You can make it decaf. Just use decaffeinated earl grey tea!
    • This drink is supposed to be served over ice but you can make this into a hot drink too for colder weather. Just warm up your milk and skip the ice.

If you're a fan of earl grey tea, definitely check out my Hibiscus Earl Grey Latte with Rose Water, it's really good, and perfect for colder months!

    Ingredients Notes

The ingredients are so simple I didn't even take a photo of them. It's literally just tea bags, water, a sweetener, and milk. It couldn't be easier!

    • Earl grey - you can use both tea bags or loose leaf tea. In this recipe, I'm using tea bags because this way I don't have to strain it which makes it easier.
    • Honey - I find honey goes great with earl grey but you can use maple syrup to keep the drink vegan. Agave or simple syrup would also work great.
    • Lavender extract - This is optional. I'm adding it because the Starbucks version does have a hint of lavender and it adds a nice flavor. You can also use lavender tea or dried lavender. Add vanilla extract instead if you like vanilla more.
    • Milk - Almond or cashew milk work great. If you don't mind dairy, you can use regular milk too.
    • Ice cubes - for serving to cool the drink down.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

A tall glass filled with ice with a hand drizzling in honey.

Fill a tall glass with ice. Dizzle in some honey if you'd like. Honestly, I'm adding the honey mostly because it looks pretty when serving. It's a totally optional step. The honey will already be in the tea.

Chilled earl grey tea being poured over ice into a tall glass.

Steep your tea and pour it over the ice ¾ way to the top. I like to let the tea cool down for an hour or so before serving so it's not too watered down. You can also make it the night before and store it in the fridge.

Frothy milk being poured into iced earl grey tea on the left and a hand mixing the two on the right.

Froth some almond or cashew milk with a milk frother and pour it over the tea all the way to the top. I use a handheld milk frother. I've had it for over two years, it was cheap, and it still works great! Try this milk frother (affiliate link).

Stir and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.

    Storing

You can steep the earl grey tea a day in advance and keep it in a glass jar in the fridge until ready to serve.

I like to make mine the night before so that it's already chilled when I'm ready to make the latte. When you're making the drink, just froth the milk right before serving. This drink doesn't store very well once it's mixed so I recommend enjoying it right away.

    Description

This Starbucks Copycat Iced London Fog Latte has only a few ingredients and is super easy to make. Homemade is always tastier!

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 2-3 cups water
    • 4 earl grey tea bags (use decaf if desired)
    • 1 tbsp honey (or more to taste)
    • ½ tsp lavender extract (optional, see notes)
    • ½ cup milk (I used cashew)
    • Cinnamon for garnish (optional)

    Instructions

    1. Boil the water and pour it over the teabags into a small pot or a large mug. Let steep for 3-7 minutes. Add the honey and lavender extract and stir. Let cool down before using.
    2. When ready to serve, fill a tall glass with ice and pour in the chilled tea about ¾ way up.
    3. Froth the milk with a milk frother and slowly pour over the tea.
    4. Garnish with cinnamon if desired and enjoy!

    Notes

I used a small handheld milk frother. You can find them online or wherever kitchen stuff is sold for $15-20.

I recommend making the tea in advance so that it has time to chill. I like to make it the night before and leave it in the fridge. It will keep for 2 days in the fridge.

The lavender extract is optional but it adds a nice flavor. Alternatively, you could add a teaspoon of food-grade dried lavender to the tea while it’s hot and then fish it out. You could also use ½ teaspoon vanilla extract instead.
