    Why You'll Love This Dip

Quick and easy - We all love a simple appetizer that's made in only a few minutes, right? If you use store-bought roasted red peppers, all you have to do is toss everything into a food processor and blend. It couldn't be simpler!

Lots of flavor - Dried herbs, chili flavors, lemon zest, and garlic give the dip a ton of flavor that balances out the saltiness of the feta perfectly.

Versatile - This dip can be served many other way besides just as an appetizer with crackers! Try it with roasted meat, chicken, fish, veggies, or in grain bowls. You can add it to burgers, sandwiches, or wraps.

    Ingredients

    • Feta cheese - You can use cow, sheep, or goat feta. I usually go with either sheep or goat feta. Always choose a block of feta, not crumbled feta because pre-crumbled feta has additives and it won't blend as smoothly.
    • Soft goat cheese - I like using soft goat cheese that helps to make the dip extra creamy and balances out the saltiness of the feta. You can also use regular cream cheese if you don't like goat cheese.
    • Roasted red peppers - You can either buy roasted red peppers or roast your own bell peppers in the oven or on the stove if you have a gas stove. I use store-bought to speed up the recipe but homemade will always taste the best! When the peppers are blackened, add them to a bowl and cover with a lid to steam them for a few minutes, this will make peeling them much easier.
    • Garlic - One small or medium grated clove of garlic is all you need and I promise it's not overpowering at all but if you don't like raw garlic, try adding roasted garlic instead.
    • Lemon - You'll need both freshly squeezed lemon juice and lemon zest for this dip. The lemon zest adds freshness and flavor. I recommend using organic lemons whenever possible.
    • Spices - The dip is seasoned with chili flakes, dried thyme, dried oregano, and black pepper. There's no salt because the feta is salty enough on its own. I opted for dried herbs because they're more readily available but you can also use fresh herbs if you have them. You'll just need more because dried herbs are much more concentrated.

    Variations and Substitutions

Cream cheese - If you don't have soft goat cheese, you can use regular cream cheese instead.

Fresh herbs - If you prefer, you can swap the dried herbs for fresh. Just make sure to add double or triple the amount because dried herbs are much more concentrated.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Add the feta, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, and spices into a food processor and process until smooth.
    2. You might need to scrape down the slides a couple of times if anything sticks.
    3. Add more pepper, lemon juice, or herbs to taste if needed. The dip will be looser the more you blend it and will thicken up again if you keep it in the fridge for a few hours.

    Serving Suggestions

There are many ways you can serve this whipped feta besides just as a dip with crackers or raw chopped veggies. Here are some of the best ways you can use it:

    • In sandwiches, burgers, or wraps - Instead of other sauces or cheese
    • With roasted chicken, meat, fish, or veggies - Spread the dip on the bottom of your plate and top with your protein of choice or roasted veggies
    • On eggs - Try it on sunny-side-up eggs or poached eggs for breakfast with toasted bread (so good!).

    Storing

Store the dip in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. The dip is a little looser while you blend it but it will thicken up once you store it in the fridge for a few hours.

    FAQs

What kind of peppers should I use?

If you're using store-bought, just get the classic roasted red peppers. If you're roasting them yourself, I like using red bell peppers or Italian sweet peppers.

    Can I make this vegan?

Yes, you can use vegan feta and vegan cream cheese to make this dip completely dairy-free.

    Can I freeze the dip?

No, I don't recommend freezing it. The texture will be off once defrosted and it won't be as creamy.

    Description

This feta dip comes together in a few minutes and it's always a big hit! Serve it as a dip, in sandwiches, with meat, fish, or veggies!

    Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 200g feta cheese
    • 100g soft goat cheese (or cream cheese)
    • 1 clove garlic, grated
    • 2 medium roasted red peppers
    • ¼ tsp coarsely ground black pepper
    • ½ tsp dried oregano
    • ½ tsp dried thyme
    • 1 tsp chili flakes (add more or less based on your preference)
    • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
    • Zest of half a lemon
    • 1 tbsp lemon juice (or more to taste)
    • ½ tsp ground sumac (optional)
    • Garnish (optional): ground sumac, toasted pine nuts, spring onion (green part only)

    Instructions

    1. Add all ingredients into a food processor and process until smooth. You might need to scrape down the slides a couple of times.
    2. Add more pepper, lemon juice, or herbs to taste.
    3. Serve as a dip garnished with sumac, pine nuts, and spring onion or add it to sandwiches, burgers, and wraps, or serve it with roasted vegetables, meat, or fish.

    Notes

Feta: To avoid the dip being too salty, rinse your feta cheese under cold water briefly before adding it to the food processor. This will remove any excess salt on it from the brine.

Delicious dips are always a hit. I love feta, and it pairs so well with the roasted red peppers. I think I could eat this by the spoonful.

I love your take on this feta dip. Very original and tastes delicious. We also had it as a small side to our steak dinner, it was delish over baked potato!
