Why You'll Love This Greek Yogurt Oatmeal
Creamy and filling - Greek yogurt makes the oatmeal extra filling and adds a different flavor than when you use just milk. It also adds protein, which makes the oats more filling. One serving has about 14 g of protein, and you can always add protein powder to make it even more filling!
Simple flavors - The oats are sweetened with honey or maple syrup and flavored with vanilla extract and cinnamon. It's super simple but so good!
Easy and quick - Stovetop oatmeal is one of the easiest breakfasts you can make, and what I make most often in the morning. This one is no different, and I find it even easier than any other ones I've made with fruits! It has just 6 ingredients, and it can be on your table in 10 minutes!

Ingredients
- Rolled oats - I always recommend using classic old-fashioned rolled oats for oatmeal, but quick oats work as well. I don't recommend steel-cut oats because you would need much more liquid, and it would take much longer to make.
- Milk - Almond milk or cashew milk is what the recipe calls for because that's what I have on hand, but whole milk or any other non-dairy milk works as well.
- Greek yogurt - I recommend using a good full-fat Greek yogurt for an extra creamy oatmeal.
- Sweetener - You can use honey, maple syrup (my go-to), or practically any sweetener for this oatmeal.
- Vanilla and cinnamon - Use vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste and ground cinnamon to add flavor to the oatmeal.

Variations and Substitutions
- Vegan - Use dairy-free yogurt, dairy-free milk, and maple syrup to make the oatmeal completely vegan! I recommend a good, thick coconut yogurt.
- Different sweetener - Brown sugar, coconut sugar, date syrup, agave syrup, or a sugar-free alternative.
- Protein powder - The yogurt adds protein, but if you want to add even more, add a scoop of your favorite vanilla protein! I like Sprout Living Protein Powder.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Add milk and rolled oats to a small saucepan and bring them to a boil.
- Lower the heat and simmer the oats for 5-8 minutes or until creamy, adding more milk or water if needed. Stir often to prevent the oats from sticking to the bottom.

- Once creamy, turn the heat off, and stir in Greek yogurt, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and honey or maple syrup.
- If the yogurt cooled down the oats too much, turn the stove back on for a minute.
- Serve the oatmeal topped with berries, a sprinkle of hemp seeds, and a drizzle of honey or any other toppings. Enjoy!

Serving
Serve the oatmeal hot with your favorite toppings! Some of my favorites are nut butters like almond butter or peanut butter, homemade nutella, fresh berries or fruit, Caramelized Apples, Caramelized Peaches, jam, granola, seeds, nuts, or more yogurt!
Storing and Reheating
Storing: This oatmeal tastes best when it's freshly made. It will continue to soak up the milk and thicken as it sits. If needed, you can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. I don't recommend freezing it.
Stovetop: When you're ready to eat, reheat the oatmeal in a small saucepan on the stove with a splash of milk or water to avoid it burning and to make the oats creamier again. Reheat them over medium heat for a few minutes or until warmed through. Stir them often, they like to stick.
Microwave: Alternatively, you can also reheat the oatmeal in the microwave. Stir in a splash of milk and reheat in about 30-second intervals until warm.
FAQs
Yes, you'll just need to adjust the quantities of milk and yogurt for a better texture. I'd start with ยฝ cup of milk and ยฝ cup of yogurt and add more milk in the morning if needed.
