Description

This Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini is the perfect cocktail for your Thanksgiving dinner or a Halloween party! Impress your guests with this fall classic and use any leftover syrup for pumpkin spice lattes!

Ingredients

Units Scale

Pumpkin Spice Syrup

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini

  • 1 shot of freshly brewed espresso
  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz coffee liqueur (I used Kahlua)
  • 1-2 oz Pumpkin Spice Syrup
  • Ice
  • 3 espresso beans (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Pumpkin Pie Spice Syrup

  1. Add brown sugar, water, and pumpkin puree to a medium pot on the stove.
  2. Bring to a simmer while stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
  3. Lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Add pumpkin pie spice, stir to mix it in, and simmer for 5 more minutes.
  5. Take the syrup off the heat, stir in sea salt and vanilla extract, and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a large measuring cup or a bowl.
  7. Transfer to an airtight glass jar and allow to cool completely before closing it with a lid.
  8. Use immediately or store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini

  1. Add a shot of freshly brewed espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and pumpkin spice syrup to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Add a handful of ice, close the shaker, and shake vigorously for 10 seconds until the shaker is very cool and the cocktail is frothy.
  3. Strain the cocktail into a martini or coupe glass and garnish with 3 coffee beans if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

Pumpkin Syrup: Store the syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks or in a freezer-safe container in the freezer for up to 3-4 months. The syrup will naturally separate as it sits in the fridge. This is normal, just stir it before each use.

Mocktail version: You can use non-alcoholic spirits that mimic the flavor of vodka and coffee liqueur or you can skip those altogether and add cream or oat creamer instead to make a creamy version of this cocktail.
