Chocolate Banana Smoothie

Recipe by Veronika | thehealthfulideas

This Chocolate Banana Smoothie is super creamy, sweet, and chocolatey, and it tastes like having dessert for breakfast!

  • Total Time10 minutes
  • Yield1-2 1x
  • DietVegan

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1-2 cups almond milk (start with 1 cup and add more if needed)
  • 2-3 frozen bananas
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1-2 scoops protein powder
  • 1-2 tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt (optional)
  • Dark chocolate (optional, for garnish)
  • Smoothie bowl toppings: berries, nut butter, granola, nuts, seeds, yogurt, or jam

Instructions

  1. Add all your ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. If you want to make it more into a banana ice cream than a smoothie, use a food processor and add less milk.
  2. Serve in a glass and garnish with grated chocolate using a Microplane grater if desired or serve in a bowl with toppings of your choice.

Notes

Storing: Store any leftovers in an airtight jar in the fridge. Best consumed within 12-24 hours. When storing, choose a container that’s as small as possible. The less air there is, the longer the smoothie stays fresh.

Protein: The nutritional info for this recipe is only an estimate. The protein amount will depend on your protein powder. I use Sprout Living protein which has 13g of protein per scoop.
