Scale
- 1 cup cane sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups chopped fresh pear (approx. 2 pears)
Instructions
- Add cane sugar, water, and chopped pears to a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer while stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves to prevent it from sticking to the bottom and burning.
- Simmer the syrup for 15 minutes.
- Take it off the heat and allow to rest for 10 minutes.
- Strain the syrup into a large measuring cup or a bowl through a fine mesh strainer. Using the back of a spoon, squeeze out as much juice out of the pears as you can.
- Pour the syrup into an airtight jar and wait for it to cool down before closing with a lid.
- Store it in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
Fridge: Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Always use a clean spoon to avoid bacteria.
Freezer: Freeze any leftover syrup in a freezer-safe container for 2-4 months. I like freezing syrup in 2-4 serving containers and labeling them so I know exactly how much I need to defrost each time.
The syrup yields about 12 servings when you use 2 tbsp of syrup per serving.
